Chiefs Esports Club dismantled Dark Sided in the grand final of CyberGamer Premier League Autumn 2018 Finals and secured another LAN title to their name.
Following the completion of the eight-team online league, the top four teams qualified for the $15,000 AUD (~$11,710) LAN Finals at the organizer's studio in Adelaide, Australia.
However, the first seed Grayhound decided to have a deserved break and skipped the event after travelling to New Zealand to win the Alpha Invitational Season 1 Finals and then back to China, where they finished runners-up to MVP PK at CS:GO Asia Summit. Taboo was revealed as their replacement for the Australian event.
This weekend saw the reigning champions Chiefs comfortably destroy Taboo and Corvidae with 16-3 scorelines in the upper bracket. As a result of this, they secured a 1-0 head start in the upcoming best-of-five grand final.
Meanwhile, Dark Sided had to grind their way up from the lower bracket following their opening loss versus Corvidae on Cache, 13-16. The fruits of their practice at the bootcamp prior to the event began to show with James "James" Quinn and co. successfully edging past Taboo and Corvidae in the third map deciders.
With a 1-0 advantage, Tyler "tucks" Reilly's crew continued their dominant form by crushing Dark Sided with a 13-2 half on the Terrorist side and confidently closed their map pick on Train, 16-2.
Another 13-2 half came along on the CT side for Matthew "Texta" O'Rourke's squad on Overpass, but Andrew "YDNA" Adams and Cooper "void" Farrell stepped up their game and gave Dark Sided a lifeline to bring it back in overtime. Despite their efforts, Chiefs won 19-17 in the end and the series 3-0 with their new roster.
